PLX is the name by which Fixe refers to the well-known Duplex 2205 stainless steel. This material has two phases of microstructures formed by ferritic steel and austenitic stainless steel. The PLX arises from the combination of both materials.
The PLX has some outstanding properties:
- Force. PLX is almost twice as strong as ordinary steel or austenitic stainless steel.
- Corrosion resistance. PLX has slightly higher common corrosion resistance ranges than A4 (316) stainless steel.
- Resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC). The PLX, given its dual microstructure, offers greater resistance against SCC. Stress corrosion cracking can lead to sudden breakage for common austenitic steels (A2 and A4).
- PLX Stainless steel. – Great for harsh environments eg – marine, sea cliffs etc
