Belay, Ascend & Descend, Pulleys

Aspiring Purcell Prusik
Nice as an adjustable personal safety, practice with this somewhere safe before first use.

Aspiring Ratchet Prusik
Useful as a sub 10mm single rope auto block as well as its intended use as a ratchet prusik.

Aspiring Standard Prusik
The sewn join makes for a nice clean catch free prusik.

Beal 5mm Prusik
5mm cord is best for really thin ropes, particularly icy ones or those concerned with weight and bulk.

Beal 6mm Prusik
6mm is the normal diameter prusik that makes up 80 - 90% of our sales.

Beal 7mm Prusik
7mm is ideal for use with 11mm ropes and can also be used for bailing off.

Black Diamond ATC
An old time classic that's still popular.

Black Diamond ATC-Guide
Heavier than the Reverso and the wire is stiffer, but it will last longer.

Black Diamond ATC-Pilot
A more simple version of the CT Click Up.
Very light and compact.

Black Diamond ATC-XP
The basic ATC taken to the next level, the wire is fairly stiff and the device quite heavy.

Black Diamond Crag Gloves
Great fit, fingers not too long like most gloves. Save the hands when belaying and rope handling. Incredible value for money.

Black Diamond Pulley
Nice, light simple pulley, had one for years.

Black Diamond Super 8
A still useful bit of kit, which can be locked off easier than an ATC when abseiling.

Climbing Technology Click Up Plus Set
A superb device, probably one of the safest belay devices out there. This set includes the Concept carabiner. NB: This is the new improved model.

Climbing Technology Orbiter M Pulley
A nice, small, robust pulley.

Climbing Technology Roll N Lock
It's a pulley, rope clamp, progress capture and ascender all in one device.

CMI Double Micro Rescue Pulley
Works well with the CMI single micro rescue pulley.
Small, compact and popular.

CMI Micro Rescue Pulley
Our most popular small pulley.

DMM Bat Rigging Plate
So light and small, really no reason not to carry one when multi-pitching. Particularly useful if climbing with inexperienced partners, or if there is three in the party. A recommended piece of kit.

DMM Bug
Heavy duty, wears really well, popular old school device, that has stood the test of time.

DMM Bug Belay Master Set
Really good value, to buy separately would be $114.80

DMM Mantis
Brand new from DMM. Looks good and is lighter than the Verso. I feel it is better suited to sub 10mm ropes.

DMM Pivot
The Pivot won the Outdoor Industry Award for Belaying off Anchors in 2015. Nothing else comes close, really impressed with this one.

DMM Revolver Screwgate Carabiner
Really useful as a redirect if using a waist belay at the top.

DMM Revolver Wiregate Carabiner
Great for reducing rope drag.

Edelrid Mega Jul
A very versatile device, but takes a while to become competent/conversant with it. You will either love it or hate it, take a look at some reviews before you buy.

Edelrid OHM Assisted Braking Resistor
The perfect device for when the lead climber outweighs the belayer.
Could also be useful if you have an inexperienced belayer, or are just paranoid about being dropped!
Has had good reviews, designed primarily for sport climbing.

Omega Pacific Figure 8
Nicely proportioned and the anodizing reduces wear. Better than an ATC when cleaning gear while abseiling as it can be more easily locked off.

Petzl Ascension Left
The gold standard for ascenders, the new model is even better.

Petzl Ascension Right
The gold standard for ascenders, the new model is even better.

Petzl Fixe Pulley
Not too big, ideal for crevasse, river or rock work. Well priced.

Petzl Footape Foot Loop
Works great with an Ascension and a GriGri.

Petzl GRIGRI 2
An essential for every climber. Nothing else comes close for this type of device.

Petzl GRIGRI Plus
Has a few things in its favour, but also some negatives. Do your research.
Probably a good choice for your first Grigri.

Petzl Huit
The classic Petzl figure 8.

Petzl Micro Traxion
Editor's Choice Super Topo - so small, so light, so many uses.

Petzl Oscillante (Swing Pulley)
Good, cheap emergency pulley, really low weight (42g) makes it easy to carry.

Petzl Paw S Rigging Plate
Saves cross loading carabiners and makes for a clean anchor.

Petzl Pirana
Great being able to adjust the friction. For rock climbing it works best with a small screwgate such as the Petzl SM'D.

Petzl Pro Traxion
A must have on a big wall. Read the features and specs below.

Petzl Rescue Pulley
Efficiency - 95% I think it's the best pulley I've ever used.

Petzl Reverso 4
A favourite belay device for multi-pitch climbing.

Petzl Shunt
A really useful piece of kit, highly recommended.

Petzl Tibloc
Better than a prusik in some situations and not much heavier. Useful in simul climbing. Use with a large carabiner that you can get all your fingers through.

Petzl Tibloc NEW
Much improved over the older model.

Petzl Ultralegere Pulley
A very cheap emergency pulley - needs to be used with an oval screwgate.

Petzl Unireverso
A good idea, makes it impossible to drop the belay device so long as the carabiner is attached. If you decide you don't like it later, just separate the two and you've saved $10 over buying them individually.

Petzl Verso
Light and compact - my current belay device and I've tried them all!

SMC Aluminium Rigging Ring
Very strong (32kN multi directional), yet very light.

SMC CRx Pulley

SMC Large Rigging Plate
Having numbered holes makes this plate a lot safer and easy to use.

Sterling Hollow Block Loop
Made from aramid (a heat resistant, very strong synthetic fibre) it has excellent gripping power, bites better, highly heat resistant and handles nicely - I would never go back to cord.

Y & Y Vertical Classic Belay Glasses
These are some of the best belay glasses I have tried.

Y & Y Vertical Clip Up Belay Glasses
Ideal to wear over all glasses. Just flip up if not required. So much better than stacking or swapping between glasses.

Y & Y Vertical Plasfun Belay Glasses
Bright, colourful (choice of three colours) well priced.
