Features:
Dyneema is the DSM brand name for a modern fibre called UHMWPE, a high-tenacity type of polyethylene. It has extremely high tensile strength – about twice that of nylon, and a lower specific gravity than water (it floats).
Negative properties in a climbing context are that it has extremely low elongation and a low melting point (about 150 C).
